As part of a personal quest, for over 30 years director Hermann Vaske filmed the world's most intriguing artists and thinkers, including over 50 luminaries, among them Academy Award and Nobel Prize winners, from the fields of visual art, music, acting, philosophy, politics, business and science, posing the question: "Why are you creative?" Vaske's subjects include: David Bowie, Ai Weiwei, Björk, Wim Wenders, Philippe Stark, Yoko Ono, John Hegarty, David Lynch, Yohji Yamamoto, Damien Hirst, Angelina Jolie, Nobuyoshi Araki, Quentin Tarantino, Bono, Nick Cave, Neo Rauch, Stephen Hawkins, the Dalai Lama, Peter Ustinov, Marina Abramovic, Diane Kruger, Julian Schnabel, John Cleese, Jimmy Page, Vivienne Westwood, Takeshi Kitano and many others.

A simple question that brought me into contact with some of the most influential creatives of all time and finally changed the way I am seeing the world."

Hermann Vaske is a director, author, and producer. As a director he has worked with actors such as Dennis Hopper, Harvey Keitel, Sir Peter Ustinov and John Cleese. As a producer, he has worked with amazing human beings like The Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, and Marina Abramovic. Vaske studied at the University of the Arts in Berlin and at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles and started his career working for some of the world's best advertising agencies. Vaske next shot three feature-length documentaries, The Fine Art of Separating People From Their Money, The A-Z of Separating People From Their Money and The Ten Commandments of Creativity, for which he won the Special Award of the Jury at the International Television Festival of Venice. In 2006, Vaske produced and directed The Art of Football. In 2010, Vaske shot Digital Bomb, where Internet celebrity Tron Guy presents the past, present and future of the Internet. In 2012, he completed Balkan Spirit, a road movie exploring the creativity of Southeast Europe. In 2014, Vaske filmed Arteholic, in which film and art legends take us around Europe's best museums. In 2016, Vaske filmed Dennis Hopper: Uneasy Rider.
