An animated film featuring powerful, poetic images, Ville Neuve brings together intimate and collective destinies. Joseph moves into a friend's house and tries to reconnect with the woman who left him. A fragile redemption becomes imaginable, in a Québec, perhaps, at the dawn of its independence.

"I wanted to tell the story of a delicate personal emancipation; one that is renewed continuously; creating a narrative about commitment, weakness, and reconstruction. The chronicle of an aborted return to one's roots and a painful redemption clung to with all of one's strength."

Félix Dufour-Laperrière (Chicoutimi, Québec, 1981) studied in Montreal where he currently works. Director and screenwriter, he has made animated films, documentaries and experimental shorts. His work, which reveals a constant tension between narrative and formal exploration, always maintains a close relationship with the visual and contemporary arts. His films have been screened at numerous national and international festivals, museums and events, where they have won several awards. Ville Neuve, his first feature-length animated film, is entirely drawn with ink on paper.
