Giornate degli Autori would like to thank all the international producers and sellers who, in concert with their filmmakers, have decided to submit their latest films to our showcase. We have already viewed over twice the films submitted last year. This is a remarkable sign of confidence, we feel, in a rebirth of the film industry on the horizon, cinema being a key cultural sector and one hit particularly hard by the global health emergency. The number of entries this year also attests to the stature of the Venice Film Festival and its independent sidebars. Giornate degli Autori is hard at work on the lineup and organization of the upcoming edition, in accordance with the decisions taken by the Venice Biennale Foundation and the guidelines provided by the Venice Film Festival organizers as to the form the event is going to take. 

In any case, Venice 2020, the festival that will come out of this unprecedented and ongoing health crisis, is sure to be unique, and from the very start we'd like to offer our thanks to the entire world film community, and to all partners on our independent sidebar promoted by the Italian filmmakers' associations (ANAC and 100autori), for their trust in Giornate degli Autori and their commitment to the event.
