Free Hugs

Thursday 02 September 2021
21:00 Sala Laguna

On the night of September 2nd, at 9pm in the Sala Laguna, there will be a sneak peek at Free Hugs, an exhibition of embraces as seen through comics and cartoons. It's an occasion to discover the many forms hugs can take and enjoy an overview of the variety of styles and enormous creative energy of contemporary graphic artists from Italy and abroad. They range from Gipi, Manuele Fior, and Davide Reviati to the rising stars of the graphic novel (such as Zuzu, Antonio Pronostico, and Alice Socal), and the caustic humor of Maicol and Mirco. Also showcased, that re-invention of sci-fi imagery by LRNZ, tributes to master comic book artists like Will Eisner and Jacovitti, and the sophisticated personal touch of Bianca Bagnarelli of The New York Times.

The full version of Free Hugs will be inaugurated on September 3 rd in Jesi, at the Palazzo Bisaccioni. The event springs from the collaboration between the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Jesi, Acca - Accademia di comics, creatività e arti visive di Jesi, and the Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini. It's part of the program "Tutti per uno", the 21st edition of the Festival Pergolesi Spontini, a multi-disciplinary showcase packed with music and other events. The third stop of the exhibition Free Hugs will be at the showcase P.A.F.F. Palazzo Arti Fumetti Friuli in Pordenone (founded and directed by Giulio De Vita since 2018) and will be held at the prestigious venue Villa Galvani, in November 2021.
