1989: Stefano lives in a housing project. His mother has died and he lives with his father, Costantino. His friend Tancredi is middle-class and has lost his father. The two kids dream of playing golf at the European Tour. 2022: Tancredi seems happy, but his frivolous existence is destroying his family. Stefano is still down and out. The desire to settle their scores with the past finds the two old friends on a golf course once more.

Maurizio Matteo Merli was trained in theater under Antonio Racioppi. He then attended the Accademia d’Arte Drammatica Pietro Scharoff in Rome. In 2013 he stepped behind the camera for the first time, to direct the short film Fango bianco. The following year, he founded the production company Father and Son. Il tempo è ancora nostro is his first feature film.
