It is up to European viewers to evaluate the five films nominated for the 2023 LUX Audience Award: their vote, together with that of the parliamentarians, will decide this year’s winner. 10 of the voting spectators will be invited to the European Parliament in Strasbourg to attend the Award ceremony and meet the directors

Five European movies have been shortlisted for the 2023 LUX Audience Award:

ALCARRÀS by Carla Simón
CLOSE by Lukas Dhont
FOGO-FÁTUO (WILL-O’-THE-WISP) by João Pedro Rodrigues
KURAK GÜNLER (BURNING DAYS)
by Emin Alper
TRIANGLE OF SADNESS by Ruben Östlund

The LUX Audience Award invites you to rate the films from 1 to 5 stars. This will make up 50% of the score awarded to the winner, while the remaining 50% will be voted by members of the European Parliament!

Rating is open until12th June 2023. Among the participants, 10 lucky winners will be selected to attend the LUX Award Ceremony at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 14th June where they will meet the film directors. The winners will be notified by email on 24th May. In addition to that the following twenty winners will each receive a set of film posters of the nominated films and other one hundred winners will receive the LUX Audience Award tote bags with promotional material from the European Parliament.

To watch and further explore the nominated films, the European Parliament is organizing several hundreds of screening in the Member States and at least one main event per film in Brussels with the participation of the film’s director or actors. You can find all the events on the LUX Audience Award website and social media.

Every year, the LUX Film Prize of the European Parliament, in partnership with Europa Cinemas, Giornate degli Autori and Cineuropa set the 27 Times Cinema project, that gives 27 young film lovers from around Europe the opportunity to constitute the Giornate degli Autori Jury during Venice Film Festival.
