THE RULES OF THE GAME
An important occasion for discussion and debate about the audiovisual sector, pivotal to Italy’s culture and economy and state-supported to a significant degree, and the need for clear rules in the audiovisual industry that protect all its players, promote the productivity of the sector, and never lose sight of the cultural trajectory of public investments.
These rules can only emerge from an open dialogue with government institutions on the ground, in which all the different actors in the sector are acknowledged, with the same job opportunities provided for players large and small.
We advocate the adoption of a common methodology, shared not only by the government institutions but also by all the other industry players, insofar as their own prerogatives will allow. With producers, for example, we wish to improve the rules governing work relationships by launching a negotiation as to the drafting of the first National Collective Contract for screenwriters and directors, men and women alike, which, as hard as it is to believe, is still lacking for their professions, as is the application of rules on fair and equitable compensation.
This is a fine opportunity to contribute to an open, constructive dialogue with representatives of the sector and colleagues.
The meeting is promoted by the audiovisual and filmmakers’ associations, with the support of SIAE.
