The producer and the director: the "odd couple" we have to thank for getting the idea for a film off the ground. Taking his own career as a starting point, in this film producer Alberto Grimaldi discusses the dynamics of this relationship. His PEA - Produzioni Europee Associate has made films by the likes of Federico Fellini, Sergio Leone, Pierpaolo Pasolini, Franco Rosi, Elio Petri, Marco Ferreri, Mario Monicelli, Martin Scorsese, and Gillo Pontecorvo, among others. But "l'avvocato Grimaldi," as the film business called him in the 1970s, is best known for working with Bernardo Bertolucci and producing The Last Tango in Paris in particular. In this film project, Grimaldi and Bertolucci muse separately on how they met, the challenges they encountered making Tango, the storied history of the production of 1900, and the project they worked on but could never get made: "Red Harvest". There's love and betrayal in the tale of Bernardo Bertolucci and Alberto Grimaldi: a story with universal appeal.
